The recent changes to the Post Graduate Work Permit (PGWP) eligibility introduced by the federal government will have profound and far-reaching consequences for Ontarians. We are deeply disappointed that these decisions were made without consideration of how they will impact everyday people across Ontario and without consultation with the province.
Colleges Ontario's CEO and President, Marketa Evans, has written an open letter to Minister Marc Miller, expressing our strong objection to the federal government’s decision to end automatic work permits for international students attending Ontario’s public colleges.
The federal government's deeply concerning announcement today on further international student restrictions demonstrates a clear university bias. Such additional restrictions will deepen an already existing crisis in Ontario’s labour market. Without college graduates, Ontario grinds to a halt.
