Colleges Ontario joins AtkinsRéalis as a CANDU ambassador

Ontario’s public colleges play a vital role in advancing the province’s nuclear sector. Through hands-on, industry-aligned programs in power engineering, radiation safety, skilled trades and technology, colleges are preparing the next generation of highly skilled professionals for careers across the nuclear supply chain. Colleges also collaborate with nuclear operators, research institutions and equipment manufacturers to drive innovation, enhance safety and strengthen Ontario’s position as a global leader in nuclear excellence.

As a CANDU ambassador, Colleges Ontario is proud to advocate for the vital role of nuclear energy in building a cleaner, more secure energy future for Ontario. We’re committed to working alongside industry leaders and postsecondary partners to equip our grads with the skills and experience needed to fuel innovation and meet the sector’s evolving workforce demands.

The Canadians for CANDU campaign was launched on February 28, 2024, and is proudly supported by organizations including organized labour, supply chain, nuclear medicine, education, and Indigenous Canadian organizations. Spearheaded by Co-Chairs the Right Honourable Jean Chrétien and former Ontario Premier Mike Harris, the campaign promotes the deployment of CANDU® nuclear technology at home and abroad in support of Canadian and global efforts to reach net-zero emissions.
